ÖBB has introduced its latest generation of Nightjet trains on the route between Zurich and Vienna, offering enhanced comfort and modern amenities for overnight travel.
The new-generation Nightjet officially launched on the Vienna-Zurich line on June 14th. Described by the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) as Europe's most advanced night train, this deployment is part of a broader expansion strategy that aims to have 24 new train sets in operation by the end of the year.
Enhanced travel experience
Passengers can expect significant upgrades, including improved mobile reception, various charging options such as inductive stations, and increased privacy. The train configuration consists of seven carriages, accommodating up to 254 passengers. Notable features include a multifunctional car with space for bicycles and sports equipment, as well as free onboard Wi-Fi.
Pricing and booking
Tickets are available starting at €34.90 for seating, while couchette compartments and the new solo 'Mini Cabins' begin at €54.90. Sleeper compartments start at €89.90. Travelers are encouraged to book early via official ÖBB channels to secure the best rates.
Schedule
The service runs daily. The train departs Vienna at 9:39 pm, arriving in Zurich at 10:36 am. The return journey leaves Zurich at 8:32 pm, reaching Vienna at 7:58 am. Passengers should verify specific travel dates as schedules may be subject to change due to maintenance.
